利用GC和GC－MS分析來自肯亞同一地區的葡萄柚（Citrus paradisi Macfadyen forma Redblush）和文旦柚（Citrus grandis Osbeck）冷壓（cold-pressed）果皮精油中揮發性成分。

在兩種精油中總共分別鑑定出含量達97.9和98.8%的67及52種成分。兩種精油主要成分分別為93.3及97.5%的Monoterpene hydrocarbons，limonene（91.1及94.8%），alpha-terpinene（1.3及1.8%），和alpha-pinene（0.5%）。而他們也都含有0.4%的Sesquiterpene hydrocarbons。較顯著的成分為beta-caryophyllene，alpha-cubebene，以及（E,E）-alpha-farnesene。

葡萄柚和文旦柚的分別含有4.2 和 2.0%的氧化成分，這些成分主要種類為carbonyl compounds（2.0；1.3%）、alcohols（1.4；0.3%），和esters（0.7；0.4%）。Heptyl acetate、octanal、decanal、citronellal、和（Z）-carvone為主要的成分（0.1－0.5%）。Perillene、（E）-carveol、和perillyl acetate存在於葡萄柚中，但並沒有在文旦柚的精油中。

研究結論

Nootkatone、alpha-及beta-sinensal，methyl-N-methylanthranilate，還有（Z,E）-farnesol 在兩種精油中都是重要成分。
